Barclay Town Meeting – July 19th, 2017

Jul 23, 2017 | Meetings Agendas Events, Town Meetings

The Commissioners passed Ordinance 2017-02 that allows for the Town to sign an agreement with Marvin Memorial Church so that the Church building can be donated to the Town. Once the property is transferred, we’ll be talking about improvements to the building and property. Let us know your ideas about making this historic building a great asset for the Town.

  • Paige Tilghman, Director of Queen Anne’s County Economic Development, stopped by to let us know that the County is going to look at opportunities for business growth in the northern part of the County. She would like the Town to be included in the discussions so that if there is a chance to bring jobs to Barclay, we’re first in line.
  • You are probably aware that the US 301 freeway construction around Middletown is underway. We hear that it should be done by December 2018. This probably means more traffic coming down US 301. The County Commissioners are aware of this, and they are looking at all the issues that come with more traffic – flow, safety, etc.
  • The new LED street lights are in place. Brand new lights on Barclay Cutoff road, north of town on Route 313, and along the front of St. Daniels should be coming very soon.
  • Remember – If you notice a street light is out, let us know. It is easy to report it on the Delmarva Power app or website!
  • Water run-off and back-ups. With this crazy summer weather and the bad downpours we’ve been having, if you have water backing up after a rain, or you notice that the Trap Hill Ditch flow is stopped, let us know.
  • We want ideas for information to include on the website. If you have photos of Barclay from days gone by and would like them on the website, please contact Debbie Bowden at townofbarclay@gmail.com or 410-490-5881.

The next Town Meeting will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017, 7:00 p.m. at Marvin Memorial Church, 101 Church Lane, Barclay, MD 21607. Please check the bulletin board outside of the Town Office for public meeting and hearing dates, times, and locations, including changes and cancellations.
